We provide patients of all ages with optimum dental care for lasting smiles. As your dental caregivers, we will help you plan for a future of good oral health. Modern dentistry has helped patients retain their natural teeth much longer than former generations. You could keep your smile healthy forever, and that’s exciting!
Dr. Rauk will provide you and your family with the information, tools, and hands-on instruction you’ll need to properly care for your smile. Your responsibility will include: 1) brushing and flossing daily, and we may recommend other special oral hygiene aids like the Waterpik or proxibrushes; 2) scheduling preventative cleanings and checkups; 3) promptly following up with restorative dental care. This is the recipe for a lasting smile!
Checkups
We recommend a checkup and preventative cleaning approximately every six months. The time between these visits is individually determined based on a patient's oral health needs. During your appointment, Dr. Rauk will provide a comprehensive oral exam. This includes an oral cancer screening, periodontal evaluation and occlusal analysis. We also use a cavity-detecting laser, the Diagnodent, which is the latest in dental technology to evaluate the depth of dental caries. With your permission, we will also take any necessary digital X-rays and photographs to gain a full understanding of your condition for accurate diagnosis. Dr. Rauk will then review options for treatment and work with you to design a practical plan of action. By the time you leave our Estes Park dental office, you will fully understand the state of your oral health and our recommendations. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask!
Preventative Cleanings
At your preventative cleanings, you will meet with a dental hygienist who has a degree in dental hygiene. She understands the importance of good gum health for optimal oral and overall health. Your gums are vital to the stability of your teeth and longevity of your smile. Unfortunately, 80% of Americans have some form of gum disease. Many people don’t know they have the condition until infection has caused serious damage. This article explains gum disease and how we’ll help you prevent or control it.
